My work in journalism is grounded in a belief that free expression and responsible reporting are essential to democracy. I am driven by a commitment to strengthen the First Amendment’s promise—ensuring that truth, transparency, and access to credible information remain at the heart of public life. Storytelling has always fascinated me, but my studies and newsroom experience have transformed that fascination into a purpose.
After graduating from high school with an Associate of Science degree, I left my hometown of Cleveland, Tennessee at 18 to continue my education at Washington and Lee University. I am majoring in Journalism with double minors in Philosophy and Law, Justice, and Society, disciplines that continually shape how I think about ethics, power, and the legal protections surrounding speech and the press.
At W&L, I serve as Managing Editor of the Ring-tum Phi, where I oversee editorial standards, print layout, and digital strategy while mentoring a team of reporters. I am also stepping into a producer role with the Rockbridge Report, where I will lead the production of a weekly 30-minute, live newscast—guiding editorial decision-making, coordinating newsroom teams, and helping deliver accurate, engaging local journalism to our community.
Looking ahead, I hope to continue serving the public’s right to know by becoming a First Amendment or media lawyer, advocating for free expression, strong journalism, and an informed democracy.
